The Nikon D700 SLR Digital Camera brings professional imaging with a full frame image sensor to a lightweight yet durable camera body. It features the exclusive 12.1 Megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, measuring 23.9 x 36mm, which is nearly identical to the size of a 35mm film frame - thereby eliminating any significant crop factor or focal length multiplier. Images taken with the D700 exhibit exceptional overall quality, broad tonal range and depth, along with extremely low-noise throughout its expansive ISO range of 200 to 6400. Nikon's exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera's features; such as the 51-point auto focus system and speedy 5 fps frame advance, and the camera incorporates many of the features that have made point-and-shoot digital cameras so popular - such as Live View, Auto ISO, and in-camera image enhancement. A D3 in D300 clothing. a great camera but not a great value

byehwang Sep 21, 2008
21 Helpfuls 22 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great image quality. High speed, low noise. No focal-length factors. Weatherproof...
Cons Price. You could buy 2 D300s for one D700. DX lenses crop to 5.1 megapixel
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the D700 as my primary camera and relegated my D300 to backup status. All I really wanted was a second body but in hindsight I think the D700 is overpriced for the image quality improvements and the few additional features it offers.

First a little background. I have been shooting... Read full review »

Just a few short years ago, "full framed" DSLRs belonged to the realm of the well-to-do and professionals. The Canon full framed models were priced beyond the reach of ordinary amateurs and enthusiasts.

How times have changed. Now, for less than $3,000, you can get full framed (or as Nikon... Read full review »

Nikon D3S: Spectacular for those who need its power

bydaviddennis May 6, 2012
17 Helpfuls 18 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Takes beautiful images; fast and powerful; rugged and durable
Cons Big, heavy and more expensive than many used cars
Recommended it? Yes

It surprised me that nobody has written a good review of this camera, and it's a bit late since it's already replaced by the D4. Still, there are a few D3Ss left on camera store shelves, and in view of the horribly bad availability of the D4, you might still be tempted to buy one. Should you?
