In the second installment of the Star Wars series, EPISODE II--ATTACK OF THE CLONES, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) is now a teenage Jedi apprentice to Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Together they must protect Senator Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman) from a militant group of political activists that is trying to assassinate her. This group is led by the evil Count Dooku (Christopher Lee). Among other troubles, Anakin faces some hard choices as he begins to fall for Padme, knowing this love is forbidden by the Jedi knights' creed. In addition, Anakin begins to show his rebellious attraction to the dark side--which will eventually conquer him, when he becomes the future Darth Vader.

The story is set 10 years after STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE, and there are appearances by some of PHANTOM's characters, including Jar Jar Binks. CLONES also brings back familiar faces from the original STAR WARS: the lovable droids R2D2 and C3PO, and Yoda, who plays a key role in this film. Lucas c... Less

The Force is with us in EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, the final chapter of the six-part STAR WARS series, which began a long time ago (1977) in a galaxy far, far away... and is now complete in its cyclical perfection. This visually awe-striking kaleidoscope of interplanetary imagination features the unmatched digital animation and special effects of George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. With pink and orange skies casting a golden sheen over magnificent landscapes through which space ships dart and light sabers flash, the spectacle of the film, while hypnotizing, is but a complement to the intense, crucial plot.

Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) remains the Jedi apprentice of master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Battling dark forces that threaten the Republic, the duo quickly eliminates enemy Count Dooku (Christopher Lee), and Anakin proves--as he states more than once--that his powers have doubled. (07/01/2002, p.88, Annlee Ellingson): "...[Portman] is as engaging and likable as her talent promises. Christensen giftedly captures the pouty bull-headedness of his character....[Yoda] exhibits polished expressiveness..." (07/01/2005, p.131, Michael Bonner): "It looks fantastic; a fully-formed universe, richly detailed down to a microcosmic level..."

Cons overuse of CGI, some parts were slow, a little long
Recommended it? Yes

This morning someone asked me what I was doing today. When I said I was heading out to see the new Star Wars film, I heard "Oh, you're one of them."

Yes, I am one of them if them means someone who enjoys a movie that is an escape from reality with a good story, action and special effects... Read full review »

The Dark Side clouds everything…

So there I was, on Amazon.com when I realized that they were allowing people to pre-order the latest installment of the Star Wars Saga, Episode II: Attack of the Clones (AOTC). Another plus was since I ordered another item (like LOTR Platinum Edition),... Read full review »

Pros Spectacular visuals, Anakin and Padme finally get real, ungodly lightsaber battles!
Cons Sheeeeeeit.
Recommended it? Yes

It's hard to remember specific details. People gathered in clusters of five or six, a rock radio station was camped out right outside the movie theater, playing "Heavy" by Collective Soul. It was 11:25 at night. Oh yeah, and it was raining.

After a 15-minute wait at the concession stand... Read full review »

Ummm...Did Everyone Else See The Same Movie As Me?

Pros Vader's mask looks cool. Integral part of the Star Wars six-ogy.
Cons The acting. And Padme gives birth the the HUGEST newborns ever. And they were premature!
Recommended it? No

Picture Darth Vader stretching his arms out and screaming "Noooooo!" when he learns Padme is dead. It takes a good actor to pull the ole' "noooo" scream off. Hayden Christensen is not. In fact, he's pretty horrible. That part would fit better in Spaceballs or the gag reel of the DVD. I groaned from... Read full review »
